A Non Surgical Approach to Healing
Here at Balanced Family Wellness we believe in offering treatments that encourage the natural processes of your body to do the healing. This is one of the many reasons why we offer Spinal Decompression Therapy. This therapy is a non surgical approach that creates a scenario in which bulging or herniated disc tissue is able to move back into place and heal, alleviating the pain this condition causes. Using a decompression table, the spine is stretched which "creates an environment in which the disc can receive more nutrients and therefore heal itself more quickly and effectively" (HillDT Solutions 2022).
How It Works
The decompression table uses a cable and system of pulleys to stretch out the spine. Patients are harnessed to the table and made comfortable with pillows and properly supported with bolsters under your legs. The cable is then attached to the harness, allowing the pulley system to stretch the spine accordingly. Dr. Jen or Dr. Aimee will adjust the weight and time to best fit what your body needs.
Spinal Decompression Therapy offers many health benefits and can treat a wide array of issues.
This therapy is highly popular because of the plethora of issues it can treat. Below is a list of said issues along with health benefits this treatment offers:

Treatment Length and Cost
Length of treatment can vary depending on your diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Jen or Dr. Aimee will first assess to see whether or not you are a good candidate for Spinal Decompression Therapy. From there, your treatment length will be assessed weekly and adjusted as needed to fit what your body needs. A typical span of treatment is 12 sessions. Our office offers decompression table packages in a 6 or 12 session in order to offer an affordable means of treatment. Each session time can vary depending on which part of the body you are treating. However, the neck typically takes around 12-15 minutes while the back ranges from 20-25 minutes.
Spinal Decompression Therapy paired with other chiropractic care treatments can take your healing journey to the next level.
While this treatment alone can significantly alleviate pain, combining it with massage therapy and chiropractic adjustments increases its effectiveness. Massage therapy relaxes your muscles, allowing for easier alignment, which therein creates a higher chance your spine is stretched properly. Deep tissue massage breaks up internal scar tissue and treats chronic problems closer to the bones, resulting in the body having a more relaxed state. This allows the decompression therapy to work more effectively and with less stress on your body. Since decompression therapy works by stretching and realigning the spine, receiving consistent chiropractic adjustments can decrease length of treatment by providing your body with a better foundation going into treatment.
